The Grammys are one of the most prestigious awards in the music industry, honoring outstanding achievement in the recording arts. This past Sunday marks the 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony held by the Recording Academy. The ceremony was held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on this past Sunday on February 5, 2023. Record of the Year
The winner of the Record of the Year award was “About Damn Time” by Lizzo. This catchy pop track was a hit with both fans and critics. With it’s especially upbeat energy and toe tapping chorus, the song became the standout track of the year.

Best New Artist
This year’s Best New Artist award was won by Samara Joy. Samara Joy, is an American jazz singer. She won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019. Samara was also was named Best New Artist by Jazz Times and The Recording Academy in 2021 and 2023.

Best Dance/Electronic Album
Beyoncé not only won best dance/electronic music album with Renaissance, she also won her 32nd Grammy which made her the top Grammy winner of all time.

Best Pop Solo Performance
Adele won Best Pop Solo Performance for “Easy on Me” after Columbia Records unveiled it as the primary single from the album on October 15, 2021. The song is a melancholic pop ballad that features a prominent piano and simple bass beats. With lyrics that reflect on themes of nostalgia, regret, and forgiveness.

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
The Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award was won by Sam Smith and Kim Petras for “Unholy.” This emotionally charged track marked a departure from Smith’s previous pop-focused sound. Instead, it explored the artist’s more introspective and vulnerable side.

Best Audiobook
Viola Davis has made history by becoming the youngest, fastest, and the only Black woman to achieve EGOT status. This is the highest honor in the entertainment industry, which recognizes individuals who have won all four of the biggest awards in the industry: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony. Viola Davis has now joined the ranks of legendary performers such as Rita Moreno, Jennifer Hudson, and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album
The winner of the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album award was Higher by Michael Bublé. This album features Paul McCartney’s ballad “My Valentine”, arranged by McCartney himself, and covers of Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home to Me” and Willie Nelson’s “Crazy”, in a collaboration with Nelson.

Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album
The Best Rock Performance award was won by Ozzy Osbourne featuring Tony Iommi for ” Degradation Rules. This energetic track showcases the Ozzy’s genuine sound and features driving guitars and pounding drums.
The Best Rock Album award was won by Osbourne as well for ” Patient Number 9.” The album marked a return to form for the singer, featuring catchy hooks and driving guitars that have become his signature sound.
Best Rock Performance
Brandi Carlile for won Best Rock Performance for “Broken Horses.” Brandi was a force to be reckoned with after winning awards in American Roots, Country, and even earning a nomination in Pop. She’s able to add this award to her belt.
