Our hearts are thumping as we get ready for a new romantic-comedy just in time for Valentine’s Day. What could be better than a new rom-com? A rom-com starring 2 of the most iconic stars of the ’90s, 2000’s, and today! And the trailer just dropped! While both Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher have had their fair share of leading romance films, now they’ll be starring together in the new Netflix film, Your Place or Mine. Your Place or Mine follows 2 best friends, who swap houses and lives for a bit

Think of the premise of The Holiday, except instead of 2 women, we see best friends Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) swap homes for a week. Debbie will be living in Peter’s home in New York City and Peter will look after Debbie’s son in her Los Angeles home.

Peter and Debbie have been friends forever. But when Debbie begins a budding relationship with a new man in New York, Peter’s secret feelings start to bubble to the surface.

Your Place or Mine cast and creative

Along with Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher, the film includes appearances from stars like Jesse Williams, Tig Notaro, Rachel Bloom, and Steve Zhan. The rest of the cast includes Zoë Chao and Wesley Kimmel.

The writer of 27 Dresses and The Devil Wears Prada, Aline Brosh McKenna penned the screenplay and also directed the movie.

The trailer gives us a glimpse into the age old question: Can men and women just be friends?

In the trailer we discover that Debbie and Peter met on interesting terms: a one-night stand. However, the pair are going on 20 years of friendship. Throughout the trailer we see Peter and Debbie enjoying their time in different cities: Debbie is living a free life in NYC while Peter learns how to take care of another person in LA.

When Debbie meets someone (the handsome Jesse Williams) and tells Peter, his old romantic feelings for her appear. Will he be able to share his feelings or keep it hidden?

The trailer gives a comical glimpse into the tone of the movie. We even see Kutcher’s Peter witness Witherspoon’s Debbie having sex on his security camera by mistake. Something none of us would ever be prepared for.

The question of whether women and men can be friends has been an a discussion for years. It’s been explored in films like When Harry Met Sally, Always Be My Maybe, Plus One, Some Kind of Wonderful, and many more. It seems like Your Place or Mine will cover the same question.
