Come on Barbie, let’s go party on the big screen! Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the first teaser trailer for the new Barbie movie and we’re obsessed.
In the trailer, we are transported to a desert like area, where Helen Mirren narrates a story about Barbie changing the world of toys forever. Then, a larger-than-life Margot Robbie as Barbie appears in a black and white swimsuit. With Barbie giving a smile and a wink, we are then transported into scenes with Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, and Margot Robbie.
Our other first looks at the Barbie movie
So far, we’ve see Margot Robbie smile in a first look as the iconic Barbie, gripping the steering wheel of the classic pink Chevrolet Corvette.
We’ve also gotten the first look at Ryan Gosling as Ken. In a photo shared on Twitter, the actor embodies the character of Ken, with beach blond hair, a spray tan, and personalized underwear.

What is the Barbie movie about?
We still don’t know exactly what the film is about, but with some clues from the trailer, we can imagine it shares the origin story of Barbie. Greta Gerwig directed the film and also wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach. With this kind of collaboration between the Little Women director and Marriage Story director, the possibilities of a magical Barbie story are endless.
Barbie cast
Margot Robbie stars as the film’s protagonist, Barbie, while Ryan Gosling will be playing the hunky role of Ken. The cast also includes Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Emma Mackey, Arianna Greenblatt, Alexandra Shipp, Hari Nef, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Emerald Fennell.
Margot Robbie shared her excitement for the film in last year’s issue of British Vogue. “It comes with a lot of baggage!” she says. “And a lot of nostalgic connections. But with that come a lot of exciting ways to attack it.”

Barbie has a 2023 release date
The movie is set to release in movie theaters on July 23, 2023 and audiences are already getting excited.
